A ShadeWing is a piece of tensioned fabric spanned between posts supported by guy-wires. These structures are temporary and can easily be erected, dismantled or moved by your team. This product is great for temporary space including events and can be used multiple times in multiple locations. ShadeWings cover small to medium-sized areas and are available in a wide range of fabric types and colours. In particular, they are popular with outdoor playgrounds and festivals but can be used anywhere that need unintrusive temporary shade.
Ease & Speed of Install – Of all our products, ShadeWings are the easiest to install. They come in a kit format and can be assembled and disassembled in a matter of hours by a small unskilled team with minimal equipment. These temporary structures also require no planning permission and are not subject to any kind of restriction or building code.
Temporary & Moveable – The ability to erect and dismantle these structures make them very popular with clients needing temporary shade for events or outdoor classrooms. The ease of install and lightweight components also makes them very easy to move from one location to another allowing you to shade multiple areas without the need for multiple structures.
Minimal Footing Requirements – Usually, these free-span style structures require substantial permanent footings to handle the load created by tensioning fabric. ShadeWings use guy-wires to dissipate this force providing an invasive solution to shade.
Multi seasonal & Durable – Most temporary structures are notoriously flimsy, these structures are very durable and made to last for many years. The fabric comes with a 10-15 year UV degradation warranty and all of our hardware is 316 high-load rated stainless steel that will last a lifetime.
Weather Limitations – Structures with minimal footings don’t perform as well in inclement weather conditions. ShadeWings will need to be taken down in strong winds, however, this can be done quickly and efficiently and we have found the space is usually not used during these kinds of conditions anyway.
Maintenance – Unlike some of our other permanent structures, ShadeWings require a little more maintenance to ensure the correct tensioning is maintained. This includes checking the tightness of the guy-wires and occasionally adjusting the angle of the posts.
Limited Height – Due to the structural limitations of these temporary structures, large heights can not be achieved. This is usually not a problem as ShadeWings can easily accommodate well over head-height but something to consider if you’re planning on covering something other than people.
- Marine-Grade Hardware – For outdoor products, high-quality hardware is essential for both the aesthetics and the longevity of your structure. All of our hardware is made from marine-grade forged 316 stainless steel imported from Denmark. High load rated, this material is extremely strong and corrosion-resistant ensuring a polished finish for the life of your hardware.
- Double-Stitched Seams – Poorly constructed seams can lead to fraying and strain on a sail’s perimeter. We double stitch our seams with high-quality UV-stabilised thread ensuring a clean even look throughout the perimeter of your sail.
- Triple-Layered Reinforced Corners – Our reinforced corners allow increased levels of tension, improving the aesthetic of the sail and its performance in wind and rain.
- Galvanized or Powder-Coated Steel – Posts come galvanized as standard and we also offer an upgrade to powder-coated, which can be used to match the colour of your branding or equipment.
